I am pleased to introduce our new chaplain, the Rev. Linda Calkins, record of St. Bartholomew's Episcopal Church in Laytonsville, Maryland. Rev. Linda has been a priest for almost 10 years, serving in a number of parishes as Assistant, Priest-in-Charge, Interim and Long-term supply. Daughters in the Diocese of Washington may remember that she served at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, which has a strong and longstanding DOK chapter. Rev. Linda has a background in Pastoral Counseling and theology with an MDiv from Virginia Theological Seminary. Her loves include her dog Molly (a black replica of Toto) and her home in Silver Spring. On being called to St. Bartholemew’s, Rev. Linda said, “We are people in communion no matter where we hail from, no matter where we have been and we are joined together in a blessing of serving the community … in love of God.” That sentiment applies equally to Daughters.
Rev. Linda is excited about providing spiritual leadership to the Province and helping us plan our Retreat. Many thanks to the Rev. Caron Gwynn, the priest at my parish, St. Timothy’s in Washington, DC (and a Daughter) for her guidance in the chaplain search. Please join me in welcome Rev. Linda to Province III.
